Where can you get DPV training?

A number of training organizations offer DPV training. Training organizations such as, IANTD, GUE, NAUI, PADI, and TDI all offer DPV training. Finding a dive shop in your area with DPV instructors may be difficult. You may have to travel out of your area to find a dive shop or instructor.

How much does DPV training cost?

DPV training courses range from $125 to $500 depending on how you are taking the course. Check with your training agency and instructor for detailed costs and breakdowns.

How long does the training take to complete?

DPV courses can take two to three days to complete. Some classroom work as well as two to three dives must be completed. Each training organization has different requirements and time-to-complete can vary. Check with your training agency and instructor for a detailed time schedule for the class you are interested in taking.

How long does the certification last?

Certification in DPV use never expires. There is no yearly requirements or payments to keep your certification current. If you haven’t used a DPV in a year or more, it’s recommended that you go through refresher training or a least practice before using in a sensitive environment.

What do you learn in a DPV course?

Training courses provide the basic knowledge, skills, and specialized techniques to safely and effectively operate a DPV. Strong emphasis is placed on awareness of the potential negative impact of DPVs to the reef, cave, and wreck environment. In addition, DPV training also focuses on gas management, emergency procedures, technique, buoyancy control, and proper ascents/descents using a DPV.
